The final track completed for the album. The title and lyrics are based off of the Charles Bukowski poem "Raw with Love". The knife in the opening line refers to the feeling of heartbreak and betrayal when someone leaves you and the subsequent emotions of emptiness felt by the scenery around you. The apparent female vocals during the clean bridge are actually my own vocals pitch shifted up to emulate a woman singing. The chord structure of the first half of this song is more or less the same as the chord structure in the second half of 'Human, All Too Human' played with a different atmosphere and timing. The heavy second half features some of my favorite and most intricate guitar work to date.
lyrics
When the time came to use the knife, I flinched.
Again I walk alone as the ugly trees wave.
The living do not arrive and the dead do not leave.
I can't blame you.
I offered you what was left of me,
you gave me everything.
I can't blame you for everything.

The instrumentation alone is so viscerally emotive and still outstanding on a technical level… Add to that the masterfully raw vocals and profoundly beautiful lyrical imagery, and you’re left with one of the most soul-stirring pieces of music in all of rock’s history. Simply the greatest screamo band of all time. There is nothing quite like it. Audrey
